Christian, This is Your Time

Christian, this is your time.

It isn’t the 1950’s, the 1980’s, or even the early 2000’s. It’s 2021. You are living right here, right now. What you see around you is the time that you are living. It is the time that God made you for.

You don’t choose the time that you are to operate, but you choose how to respond to it. So we don’t mope around because it’s not the olden days, and we also don’t despair because it’s not the great future that we had hoped for.

Instead, we live faithfully here and now.

We take advantage of the blessings of our day, and we fight the battles to be fought in our day.

We are the light of the world, a city set on a hill shining forth, and it doesn’t matter what the surrounding land looks like. (Matt. 5:14)

We share the good news of Jesus Christ with compassion for the lost.

We stand firm for the truth, and we don’t give in to the world’s demands, remembering that “the word of the cross is folly to those perishing.” (1 Cor. 1:18)

We show the world that true love “does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth.” (1 Cor. 13:6)

We show the Lord that we don’t “love the praise of men more than the praise of God.” (John 12:43)

We raise our children in the discipline and instruction of the Lord so that they, too, can live faithfully in their day. (Eph. 6:4)

Christian, your time is now.

Your surrounding challenges and circumstances may have changed, but your mission and battle armor hasn’t.

Will future generations be influenced by our faithfulness or our faithlessness?

Will we morph our stances to fit in with the world, or will we align our stances to fit what Scriptures says?

Our time is not a time for the weak or for the double-minded. Your faith will be tested. Your view of the sufficiency of Scripture will be tried. The object of your hope and trust will be disclosed, and your desire for the world’s approval will be revealed.

Rather, our time is a time for the bold, the courageous, and the strong in the faith.

The ones who are only bold, courageous, and strong because they are strong in the Lord.

The ones who encourage and challenge the ones who are weak, double-minded, and discouraged, so that they, too, can find strength in the Lord.

And the ones who stand firm, prepared to make a defense for the reason of the hope that is within them with gentleness and respect. (1 Peter 3:15)

This is the time that God has placed us. Let’s not be idle, longing for better days. Let’s not shrink back, cowering in fear or submission to the evil forces at work. But let’s step up, face, and fight the battles of our day confidently, not trusting in our own power, but knowing that the battle is the Lord’s. (1 Sam. 17:47)

So Christian, this is your time, but how will you live it?
